What is Habitat for Humanity?
Habitat for Humanity International works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends. Founded in 1976, the Habitat for Humanity ministry has spread to all 50 states (including over 1,400 communities) and nearly 100 countries worldwide.
The Kansas City affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is an independent, nonprofit, Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Habitat for Humanity Kansas City brings together people with resources and people in need to build decent, affordable homes. These houses are sold to those in need at no profit. Founded in 1979, it is the seventh oldest affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat Kansas City has built more than 200 houses in the Ivanhoe and Center City neighborhoods of Kansas City Missouri and continues to revitalize blighted urban neighborhoods and instill a sense of pride and hope in our inner-city communities.
